My name is Sofia and I'm a student in Indiana. I think water conservation is a big problem mainly because no one takes it seriously. We surveyed our fellow classmates, asking them "is water conservation important to you". Their responses were, "not really, no, not a big deal, yes but I don't do it, 70% of the Earth is covered in water we are fine." These students, like many in the world, believe we have an unlimited supply of water which simply isn't the case. Less than one percent of all the water on Earth is freshwater according to the Water Information Program. We have to be careful with what we have, before it's too late.

I believe that water conservation is a problem that needs to have more action because, Without fresh water you will die in just a few days. Plain and simple, no sugar coating, it is a simple morbid fact that helps drive the point across so why are you complacent when you see fertilizers, oil and other pollutants pour into rivers and streams each time it rains? Would you eat a fish with some weed killer marinade, or drink water with a nice motor oil sheen on top? Protecting our natural eco-systems from further damage is critical, especially for the survival of some endangered species. The oceans, streams and lakes that are the lifeblood of so many local eco-systems are used as dumping grounds, hurting everything that relies on these water sources. |
I am Nate Plake and I am a student at Indiana. I believe that technology can help save water and inform people how to do it. Everybody needs to know about this issue because it effects everybody. A statistic that is not well known is that the USA uses 15% of the worlds fresh water. This shows how water can be wasted by just one country. Being informed about the situation is one of the best ways to help.
